Eagle Information :

Eagles are birds of prey. They are the giants of the bird family along with vultures. The smallest eagle is the booted eagle. They have large pointed beaks for hunting prey with strong legs and wide powerful wings for speedy flying. Eagles have more than 7000 feathers and they migrate which means they fly for food.The bald eagle is perhaps the best known.

 

Habitat:

Eagles live in nests worldwise from tropical climates, upland in dry land where they feed on mammals, to open waters like the blad eaglewhere fish are plentyfull, and also in captivity.

Diet; Food and eating habbits:

Eagles usually only eat once a day and they prefer to eat fish. They are sometimes known to capture and eat small domestic animals. 

 

Predators:

Humans are the main predators of eagles as they are hunted quite fiercley. They dont have many other threats but racoons will sometimes kill young in the nest as will the occasional great horned owl

 

Social Structure:

Eagles are very competitive by nature. They are competitive in the nest and will starve out their own nestlings and will starve out other, weaker eagles.  

 

Birth, Offspring:

Eagles build very large nests as they are large birds and their young become quite large, demanding of lots of space to fit all the birds and their 6 foot plus wings.
It takes around thirty five days for eggs to hatch and their young usualy stay in the nest for an average ten to twelve weeks.  

 

Attributes:

Eagles have very good eyesight, 3-4 times better than humans. They can see fish a long way away, including deep down in the water.
